Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: 1) compare the mathematics learning achievement on the topic of decimals of grade 7 students after using the STAD cooperative learning technique combined with mathematics board games with the 70 percent criterion, and 2) evaluate the students’ satisfaction of the mathematics learning on decimals using the STAD cooperative learning technique combined with mathematics board games. The sample consisted of 40 grade 7 students who study in the first semester of the 2024 academic year, selected by random sampling. The research instruments included 1) lesson plans of 4 plans, 2 periods per plan, 2) a mathematics achievement test on decimals with a reliability of 0.72, 3) a set of mathematics board games on decimals, and 4) a student satisfaction questionnaire with a reliability of 0.89. Data were analyzed using percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and one-sample t-test. The research revealed that: 1) the grade 7 students’ mathematics achievement on decimals after using the STAD cooperative learning technique combined with mathematics board games was significantly higher than the 70 percent criterion at the .05 level, and 2) the overall grade 7 students’ satisfaction of the mathematics learning on decimals using the STAD cooperative learning technique combined with mathematics board games was at the highest level: (M = 4.74, SD = 0.56).
