Abstract

วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องนี้ เป็นการศึกษาวิวัฒนาการเรื่องสั้นไทยตั้งแต่สมัยแรกจนถึงปีพุทธศักราช๒๔๗๕ เป็นที่สุด โดยศึกษาวิจัยถึงความเป็นมาของเรื่องสั้นและลักษณะต่างๆ ในด้านรูปแบบ และองค์ประกอบของเรื่องสั้นเป็นสำคัญ ในการวิจัยนี้ผู้วิจัยได้ใช้การค้นคว้าข้อมูลที่เป็นบันเทิงคดี ทั้งที่อยู่ในรูปของนิทานและเรื่องสั้นในหนังสือพิมพ์และวารสารรุ่นเก่าๆ ที่ออกตีพิมพ์ตั้งแต่ราวสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๔ เรื่อยมา เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะของงานเขียนเหล่านั้น ในแต่ละยุคแต่ละสมัย แล้วจึงวิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบลักษณะ รูปแบบ และองค์ประกอบของงานเขียนเหล่านั้น เพื่อดูความคลี่คลาย อันถือเป็นวิวัฒนาการตั้งแต่สมัยเริ่มแรก จนถึงปี พ.ศ. ๒๔๗๕ ซึ่งผู้วิจัยกำหนดเป็นขอบเขตของการวิจัยวิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องนี้มี ๖ บท บทที่ ๑ เป็นบทนำ กล่าวถึงความเป็นมาของปัญหา ความมุ่งหมายของการวิจัย ขอบเขตการวิจัย และวิธีดำเนินการวิจัย บทที่ ๒ กล่าวถึงกำเนิดของเรื่องสั้น ตลอดจนองค์ประกอบของเรื่องสั้น บทที่ ๓ กล่าวถึงกำเนิดของเรื่องสั้นและศึกษางานเขียนที่มีลักษณะว่าเป็นต้นเค้าของเรื่องสั้น งานเขียนนั้นได้แก่ นิทาน นิยาย และตำนานต่างๆ โดยศึกษาตั้งแต่นิทานในสมัยแรกๆ ของไทยที่มีปรากฏอยู่คือ นิทานชาดก และนิทานอีสป แล้วศึกษาลักษณะของเรื่องสั้นในยุคแรกๆ ที่ได้ลงตีพิมพ์ในหนังสือพิมพ์ สมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ตอนต้น บทที่ ๔ เป็นบทที่ศึกษาถึงลักษณะของเรื่องสั้นในยุคต่อมาจากที่ได้ศึกษาแล้วในบทที่ ๓ มาจนถึง ปี พ.ศ. ๒๔๗๕ บทที่ ๕ เป็นบทที่จะได้นำลักษณะของงานเขียนตั้งแต่ที่ยังเป็นนิทานจนถึงงานเขียนที่เป็นเรื่องสั้นมาเปรียบเทียบ เพื่อดูวิวัฒนาการของงานเขียนดังกล่าว ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องที่ผู้วิจัยมุ่งหมายทำการวิจัย บทที่ ๖ คือ บทสรุป ได้สรุปการวิจัยที่ทำมาทั้งหมด และเสนอแนะข้อคิดเห็นบางประการเกี่ยวกับวิวัฒนาการของเรื่องสั้นไทย เพื่อเป็นแนวทางแก่ผู้ที่สนใจจะศึกษางานประเภทนี้ต่อไปผู้วิจัยหวังว่างานวิจัยชิ้นนี้จะเป็นประโยชน์ในด้านการให้ข้อมูล และให้ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับวรรณกรรมไทย โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในแง่ของวิวัฒนาการของเรื่องสั้นไทยในระยะแรกๆ

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

This thesis is an analytical study of the evolution of thai short stories from the beginning until B.E. 2475, emphasizing the form, characteristics and elements of short stories. The research is based on fiction in the form of ‘tales’ and ‘short stories’ which were published in old newspapers and magazines from the reign of King Rama IV until B.E. 2475, in order to be able to see and compare the characteristics of the fiction in each period, and analize its evolution.This thesis consists of 6 chapters. The first is an introduction, covering the problem, the aims of the research, and the limitations and methods used in the research. The second defines and provides basic characteristics of the “short stories". The third describes the different sources of the short stories including tales, fables and legends. The author has done research on religious tales about the life of the Buddha in the bygone period, Aesop’s Fables, and also tales which were published in newspaper and magazines at the beginning of Ratanakosindra period. The fourth chapter continues from the third analysing short stories. The sixth and final chapter draws overall conclusions and provides suggestions for those who, in the future, may wish to extend this research.The author hopes that this research will provide useful information on the overall understanding of thai literature particularly in form of the early evolution of the thai short stories.
