Abstract

งานอนุกรมวิธานของปลาจิ้มฟันจระเข้และม้าน้ำที่พบในน่านน้ำไทยเรื่องนี้ เป็นผลงานจากการศึกษาตัวอย่างปลาที่สะสมไว้ตามสถาบันต่างๆ และข้อมูลที่เกี่ยวข้อง รวมทั้งตัวอย่างที่เก็บขึ้นใหม่ตั้งแต่เดือนพฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2543 ถึงเดือนพฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2545 จากบริเวณท่าเทียบเรือประมง, ตลาดปลาสวยงาม และในแหลางน้ำธรรมชาติ ทั้งในแหลางน้ำจืดและทะเล ตลอดชายฝั่งทั้งด้านอ่าวไทยและทะเลอันดามัน นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นการศึกษาเอกสารที่มีรายงานเกี่ยวกับปลาเหล่านี้ในน่านน้ำไทยในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ ได้ทำการรวบรวมข้อมูลของปลาเหล่านี้ทุกชนิด ทั้งทางด้านสัญฐานวิทยา, กายวิภาคศาสตร์ และสิ่งแวดล้อม แล้วนำมาเปรียบเทียบเพื่อจำแนกหาชื่อสกุลและชนิด โดยใช้เอกสารที่ทันสมัย ปรากฏว่ามีปลาจิ้มฟันจระเข้และม้าน้ำที่พบและคาดว่าน่าจะพบในน่านไทยทั้งสิ้น 15 สกุล รวม 30 ชนิด แล้วจัดนำเสนอเป็นแนวทางการไขหาชนิด พร้อมรูปภาพประกอบ ส่วนงานด้านอนุกรมวิธานของปลาแต่ละชนิดจะประกอบด้วย ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์, ชื่อภาษาไทย, ชื่อสามัญ, รายชื่อพ้อง, ตัวอย่างที่ใช้ศึกษาและข้อมูลที่เกี่ยวข้อง, ลักษณะที่สำคัญ, แหล่งที่พบ, ชีววิทยาเบื้องต้น, การกระจายพันธุ์, หลายเหตุและรูปถ่าย อีกทั้งยังได้ทำการรวบรวมเอกสารที่แสดงชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์ชองปลาจิ้มฟันจระเข้และม้าน้ำของประเทศไทยไว้ทั้งหมด และได้ให้ชื่อที่เชื่อว่าถูกต้องไว้เพื่อใช้ประโยชน์ต่อไป

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

The present taxonomic work is the update revlslon of pipefishes and seahorses (Family Syngnathidae) found in Thai waters. It is based on specimens deposited in local reference collections and newly collected specimens from different fish landings, fish markets from inland, brackish water and the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea during November 2000 to May 2002. The available taxonomic literatures of the fishes have also been concerned.Morphological, comparative anatomical matters and its habitats are compiled to make the key to genera and species of the fishes. It includes 15 genera, 30 species. An illustrated key to species is also provided. The taxonomic description of each species includes common name, Thai name, specimen data, list of synonyms, diagnostic description, habitat, biology, distribution, remarks and photograph. Finally the list of species names from any reference that concerned the Thai fishes has made and corrected for the accepted species names used in this study.
