Abstract
This research study investigated the moderating effect of psychological flexibility on the relationships that internalized homophobia had with sexual risk-taking behavior (Model 1) as well as with life satisfaction (Model 2). A total of 107 Thai gay men who exclusively had sex with men, aged 18 to 24, participated in the study. Data were collected via self-report questionnaires and subsequently analyzed using correlational and moderation analyses were conducted. The results did not show significant moderation effect of psychological flexibility in either model. However, correlation analyses revealed that psychological flexibility was negatively and significantly correlated with internalized homophobia (r = -.38, p < 0.01) and sexual risk-taking behavior (r = -.20, p < .05). Additionally, psychological flexibility was positively and significantly correlated with life satisfaction (r = .20, p < .05). Findings paved the way for subsequent research investigations on psychological flexibility and its potential preventative and therapeutic benefits in internalized homophobia, sexual risk-taking behavior, and life satisfaction among Thai gay men.
