Abstract
งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความเป็นไปได้ของการขนส่งสินค้าด้วยตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ขนาด 12 ฟุต ในประเทศไทย ซึ่งจะทำการศึกษาการขนส่งสินค้าอุปโภคบริโภค (อาหารแห้ง ซอสปรุงรส ของใช้ส่วนตัวและสินค้าเบ็ดเตล็ดทั่วไป) ภายในประเทศไทย โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อลดต้นทุนการดำเนินงานและลดระยะเวลาในกระบวนการทำงาน ซึ่งจะสามารถช่วยเพิ่มประสิทธิการทำงานและโอกาสทางการแข่งขันทางธุรกิจของของผู้ให้บริการขนส่งสินค้าภายในประเทศได้
วิธีการดำเนินการวิจัยประกอบด้วยขั้นตอน 1. ทบทวนวรรณกรรมเพื่อศึกษาคุณสมบัติของตู้คอนเทนเนอร์และการนำมาประยุกต์ใช้ในการขนส่งสินค้า 2. การสัมภาษณ์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ ทำให้ทราบถึงเหตุผล ความคิดเห็นในการนำตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ขนาด 12 ฟุต มาใช้ ทั้งในประเทศไทยและประเทศญี่ปุ่น 3. สำรวจข้อมูลของผู้ให้บริการขนส่งสินค้าอุปโภคบริโภคทางถนนที่เป็นกรณีศึกษา โดยได้รวบรวมข้อมูลข้อมูลเวลาการปฏิบัติงานจริงในกิจกรรม การคัดแยก การจัดเรียง การจัดเส้นทางขนส่งและการขนถ่ายสินค้า รวมถึงการรวบรวมข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับต้นทุนคงที่ ต้นทุนแปรผันและต้นทุนดำเนินงานทั้งหมด ต่อจากนั้นนำข้อมูลที่รวบรวมได้มาคาดคะเนต้นทุนที่เกิดขึ้นหากนำตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ขนาด 12 ฟุตมาใช้ เทียบกับต้นทุนที่เกิดขึ้นในกรณีที่ไม่ใช้ตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ขนาด 12 ฟุต ด้วยการจำลองการดำเนินงานภายใต้ปริมาณและสถานการณ์ขนส่งสินค้าที่เกิดขึ้นจริงในช่วงวันที่ 1ตุลาคม 2560 ถึงวันที่ 31 ธันวาคม 2560
ผลการเปรียบเทียบต้นทุนแสดงให้เห็นว่า การใช้ตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ 12 ฟุตจะช่วยลดระยะเวลาในการขนถ่ายสินค้า เพราะไม่ต้องเสียเวลานำสินค้าออกมาจากรถขนส่งขนาดใหญ่มาถ่ายลงรถขนส่งขนาดเล็กที่ศูนย์กระจายสินค้าปลายทาง ทำให้รถขนส่งสามารถทำรอบการขนส่งได้มากขึ้น อย่างไรก็ดี เนื่องจากความจำเป็นที่จะต้องลงทุนในตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ 12 ฟุต ความคุ้มคา่ในการใช้ตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ประเภทนี้จึงขึ้นอยู่กับความสามารถในการใช้ประโยชน์จากความจุของตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ (Utilization) ซึ่งต้องอาศัยการจัดเส้นทางขนส่งที่ดีและปริมาณสินค้าที่มากพอในระดับหนึ่ง อนึ่ง ความคุ้มค่าในการใช้ตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ 12 ฟุตจะมากขึ้นตามการเพิ่มขึ้นของค่าแรง

This research aimed to explore the viability of 12 ft. container for domestic transport of consumer products in Thailand in reducing time and total service cost resulting in improving the operational efficiency and business opportunities.
The research methods consisted of the following steps: 1. Review relevant literature to understand the properties of the containers and the usage of the containers to facilitate transportation service. 2. Interview experts to seek opinion on the justification of adopting the 12 ft. containers in Thailand and Japan. 3. Investigate the operation of the consumer-product trucking service provider being selected as the case company to collect data on the cycle time required for goods sorting, goods assembly, preparing delivery routes, and truck loading and unloading together with all fixed costs and variable costs associated with the operations. The collected information was subsequently used to estimate the cost associated with the use of the 12 ft. containers based on the demand data and operational conditions of the actual operation during the period of 1 October 2017 to 31 December 2017.
The results of this study indicated that the use of 12 ft. containers could help reducing the loading/unloading time because there was no need to transfer the goods from large line-haul truck to small feeder trucks at the destination, allowing each truck to complete more number of trips in a given working day. However, as the use of 12 ft. containers requires additional major investment, the viability of the 12-ft container will be subject to the efficient utilization of the containers which in turn depends on well-planned delivery routes and sufficient cargo volume. It was also found that the benefit to be derived from the use of 12 ft. containers increases with the rise in wages.
