Abstract

Renal osseous metaplasia is a rare condition in a native kidney with end stage renal disease showing mature bone with marrow elements in a background of chronic pyelonephritis. Although the pathogenesis is unknow, chronic ischemia and inflammation seems to be a trigger factor for the same. Osseous metaplasia has been reported in renal allograft specimen, but in this case report we present a histologically rare finding of osseous metaplasia in a native kidney.
