Abstract

Background : Anxiety or nervousness originated from anticipations is formed in thoughts of each person that they would be in danger. This causes him/her to feel inefficient, it is unnecessarily wasting of mental health. In addition, anxiety is one of most the serious obstacles to success in life or occupation achievement. Thus, the studying of anxiety level and other factors causing anxiety to a juvenile delinquents preparing to discharge are necessary in order to be a guideline in deducing and preventing the anxiety is necessary. This helps the juvenile who are about to be discharged can take normal steps in their future life in society and grow into complete their adulthood. Objective : To study anxiety over of living in the society in juvenile delinquents preparing to be discharged from observation and protection centers, and its related factors. Research Design : Cross – sectional descriptive design. Materials and Methods : The researcher studies from 130 juvenile delinquents who were preparing to be discharged from observation and protection centers (Karuna House, Prane House, Aubegka House, Karnjanapisek House) from October to December 2009. The questionnaire is devised into 2 parts; 1) The general part; 2) anxiety estimation part. Results : A 84 juvenile delinquents were equal to 64.60 percent of 130 sample group and were in the moderate level of anxiety over. The rudimentary analysis indicates factors related to anxiety over living in society are the status of parents which has the statistical fundamental difference at the level of P < .05, the mutual activities of friends which have the statistical fundamental difference at the level of P < .01 and the relationship between the juveniles and their parents has the statistical fundamental difference at the level of P < .001. Conclusions : The result provides anxiety over of living in the society in juvenile being prepared for discharge from observation and protection centers is in the moderate level. There are factors related to anxiety over outside living as follows; status of parent (s), the relationship between the juveniles and their parents and the mutual activities of friends.
