Abstract

เนื่องจากการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมการผลิตในประเทศไทยมีการขยายตัวเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง ทำให้มีการลงทุนโดยตรงจากต่างประเทศในสัดส่วนที่เพิ่มขึ้น ซึ่งน่าจะส่งผลดีต่อภาคอุตสาหกรรมการผลิต จากการได้รับประโยชน์จากการถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยีและกระบวนการผลิตที่มีประสิทธิภาพจากประเทศผู้ลงทุน ซึ่งจะทำให้ระดับของเทคโนโลยีในภาคอุตสาหกรรมการผลิตของไทยสูงขึ้น อีกทั้งการเข้ามาของการลงทุนโดยตรงจากต่างประเทศยังกระตุ้นการแข่งขันซึ่งทำให้ผู้ประกอบการต่างๆ มีการพัฒนาทั้งด้านผลิตภัณฑ์และกระบวนการผลิตเพื่อรักษาส่วนแบ่งตลาดของตนเอาไว้ ในการศึกษานี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์ที่จะศึกษาผลกระทบจากการลงทุนโดยตรงจากต่างประเทศต่อนวัตกรรมภายในประเทศรวมถึงประสิทธิภาพการผลิตผ่านปัจจัยทุนและปัจจัยแรงงานของภาคอุตสาหกรรมการผลิตของไทยจำนวน 7 อุตสาหกรรมโดยศึกษาในช่วง ปี 2542 ถึงปี 2549 โดยวิธีเชิงปริมาณและคาดประมาณด้วยวิธีกำลังสองน้อยสุด และผลการศึกษาเชิงพรรณนาเพื่ออธิบายถึงกิจกรรมการทำวิจัยและพัฒนา การมีนวัตกรรม รวมถึงปัญหาและอุปสรรคในการทำวิจัยและพัฒนาของกิจการต่างๆ ผลการศึกษาพบว่าการลงทุนโดยตรงจากต่างประเทศส่งผลต่อการเพิ่มขึ้นของนวัตกรรมในประเทศรวมถึงส่งผลต่อการเพิ่มขึ้นของประสิทธิภาพการผลิตทางด้านปัจจัยทุนแต่ปัจจัยแรงงานกลับให้ผลที่ตรงกันข้าม ส่วนนวัตกรรมที่คิดค้นขึ้นส่งผลต่อการเพิ่มขึ้นของประสิทธิภาพการผลิตในภาคอุตสาหกรรม ส่วนการศึกษาเชิงพรรณนาพบว่าบริษัทไทยที่ร่วมทุนกับต่างชาติส่วนใหญ่ได้รับการถ่ายทอดองค์ความรู้และเทคโนโลยีการผลิตจากบริษัทที่ร่วมทุนด้วย ส่วนบริษัทไทยอื่นๆที่ไม่ได้ร่วมทุนกับต่างชาติได้รับข้อมูลและองค์ความรู้รวมถึงเทคโนโลยีการผลิตโดยผ่านทางการแข่งขัน นอกจากนี้พบว่าบริษัทที่ไม่มีกิจกรรมวิจัยและพัฒนาสามารถออกผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่สู่ตลาดได้โดยการปรับองค์กรเพื่อรองรับแนวโน้มความต้องการของผู้บริโภคและการแข่งขัน

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

Due to the continuous growth of Thailand’s manufacturing industry, foreign direct investment (FDI) is constantly increasing. This possibly leads to the improvement of the manufacturing technology from technology transfer. Moreover, FDI stimulates more competition among firms since each manufacturer has to develop new product and production process to maintain market share. This study has examined the impact of FDI to change in Thailand’s innovations and productivity of labor and capital. Seven Thailand manufacturing industries are researched quantitatively from 1999 to 2006 by LS method. In addition, descriptive study explores current status of R&D several number of innovation in various aspects, for instance, research and development activity and R&D problem. The result shows that FDI affects innovation. Moreover, FDI increases productivity of capital and decreases productivity of labor in Thailand’s industries. The descriptive study finds that most joint ventures undertaken by domestic and foreign companies obtain knowledge and technology from technology transfer while non-joint ventures obtain knowledge and technology from competitiveness. The study also finds that non-R&D firms can launch new product by improving their organization in order to satisfy customers and compete in the market
