Abstract

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อศึกษาและวิเคราะห์คุณภาพของวารสารไทยทางการแพทย์ ที่ยังคงจัดทำอยู่จนถึงปัจจุบัน วารสารที่นำมาประเมินคุณค่ามีจำนวนทั้งสิ้น ๘๕ ชื่อเรื่อง แยกเป็นวารสาร ๒ ประเภท คือ วารสารไทยทางการแพทย์ ประเภท ก. สำหรับผู้อยู่ในวงการแพทย์ จำนวน ๕๔ ชื่อเรื่อง และวารสารไทยทางการแพทย์ ประเภท ข. สำหรับผู้อ่านทั่วไป จำนวน ๓๑ ชื่อเรื่อง ในการประเมินคุณภาพของวารสารไทยทางการแพทย์ทั้ง ๒ ประเภท ได้นำส่วนประกอบต่าง ๆ ของวารสารซึ่งได้แก่ รูปเล่มการพิมพ์และเนื้อเรื่องมาสร้างเป็นเกณฑ์ขึ้น ๒ ชุด เพื่อวิเคราะห์วารสารแต่ละชื่อเรื่องโดยละเอียด และวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล โดยการหาค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ซึ่งปรากฏผลการวิจัยดังนี้ วารสารไทยทางการแพทย์ส่วนใหญ่จัดทำขึ้นระหว่าง พ.ศ. ๒๕๑๕-๒๕๒๓ โดยหน่วยงานราชการ สาขาวิชาของวารสารที่มีการจัดทำมากที่สุดคือ สาขาการแพทย์ทั่วไปและสาธารณสุข วารสารเหล่านี้ส่วนใหญ่มีคุณภาพโดยเฉลี่ยอยู่ในเกณฑ์ดี วารสารไทยทางการแพทย์ ประเภท ก. เล่มที่ได้คะแนนสูงสุด ได้คะแนนร้อยละ ๙๓.๖๕ เล่มที่ได้คะแนนต่ำสุด ได้คะแนนร้อยละ ๕๕.๕๖ วารสารไทยทางการแพทย์ ประเภท ข. เล่มที่ได้คะแนนสูงสุดได้คะแนนร้อยละ ๑๐๐ เล่มที่ได้คะแนนต่ำสุดได้คะแนนร้อยละ ๗๓.๕๓ ข้อบกพร่องที่สำคัญของวารสารทั้ง ๒ ประเภท คือ วารสารส่วนใหญ่ไม่ได้จัดทำดรรชนีเพื่อเป็นเครื่องช่วยค้น นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าวารสารไทยทางการแพทย์เฉพาะสาขาวิชายังมีปริมาณไม่มากเท่าที่ควร และวารสารส่วนใหญ่ขาดการให้เลขสากลประจำวารสาร ข้อเสนอแนะในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ บรรณาธิการวารสารไทยทางการแพทย์ควรเร่งจัดทำดรรชนีท้ายเล่มเพื่อความสะดวกในการค้นเรื่อง ควรติดต่อขอรหัสเลขสากลประจำวารสารจากหอสมุดแห่งชาติ ซึ่งทำหน้าที่เป็นศูนย์ข้อมูลวารสารระหว่างชาติแห่งประเทศไทย ควรจัดทำวารสารเฉพาะสาขาวิขาในปริมาณที่เพิ่มขึ้น และควรจัดส่งวารสารที่ผลิตไปให้กองห้องสมุด มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ซึ่งทำหน้าที่เป็น National Focal Point อย่างสม่ำเสมอ นอกจากนี้ห้องสมุดที่เป็น National Focal Point ควรจะได้จัดพิมพ์วารสารประเภทดรรชนีวารสารของสิ่งพิมพ์ทางการแพทย์ในประเทศขึ้น และควรมีการกำหนดมาตรฐานด้านการจัดทำวารสารไทยทางการแพทย์ขึ้น อันจะเป็นผลให้ข้อบกพร่องต่าง ๆ ในการจัดทำวารสารเหล่านี้หมดไป

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

The objectives of this thesis is to study and analyse the quality of current Thai medical periodicals. Eighty-five periodicals were evaluated in this study. The periodicals were divided into 2 categories. In category A, were 54 periodicals published for physicians, and category B, consisted of 31 periodicals published for laymen. Criteria was based on format and content. The data was analysed and the results were presented in the forms of percentage, mean and standard deviation. The data revealed that most Thai medical periodicals were published between B.E. 2515 to B.E. 2523 by official publishers. The largest number of publications dealt with general medicine. By the grading system used, most of the periodicals analysed received good marks. The scores in Category A ranged from 93.65% to 55.56%, and the scores in Category B ranged from 100% to 73.53%. Indexing was largely neglected. Furthermore the quantity of the periodicals in specialized subjects was insufficient. The International Standard Serial Numbers have not yet been assigned to these periodicals. The study indicates the following: editors of Thai medical periodicals should publish indexes immediately to facilitate the retrieval of information ; should contact National Library (International Serial Data System (ISDS) National Center) in order to get an ISSN; should produce a more sufficient quantity of specific periodicals; should send periodicals continuously to the Library Division, Mahidol University, which acts as health science National Focal Point. The National Focal Point Library should initiate a publishing index of the health science literature produced in the country. Furthermore a standard of publishing Thai medical periodicals should be set up so that all the defects mentioned can be eliminated.
