Abstract
Background: Receptive music therapy can help Chinese college students increase positive emotions and improve mental health. Purpose: The purpose of this review was to examine the existing literature and to analyze the main features of studies of receptive music therapy for college students in mainland China. We considered the main features of studies of receptive music therapy for college students in mainland China, the objectives used in conducting the intervention, we considered the main features of studies of receptive music therapy for college students in mainland China, the goals used to conduct the interventions, the interventions, and the authors' background. Methods: A search was conducted in several databases, including Scopus, PubMed, PsyARTICLES, Medline, Google Scholar, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data, and others. Results: A total of 681 sources were identified, from which 15 papers on music therapy interventions for Chinese university students were selected. The studies reported that music therapy interventions have the potential to improve Chinese university students' self-confidence, mental health, and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety as well as negative emotions. Conclusion: More high-quality research is needed to expand music therapy interventions for Chinese college students' mental health
