Abstract

In the discovery of new drugs, the molecular hybridization approach has emerged as a promising strategy as a multitargeted approach to prevent, treat, and address drug resistance and unmet needs. Several hybrid molecules are currently under various stages of clinical trials and could be implemented into clinical practice shortly to treat various diseases. In such purview, thiazole and coumarins play an essential role due to their diverse biological activities in medicinal chemistry. The hybridization approach of these two potential pharmacophores may lead to the discovery of newer drug candidates with a more comprehensive therapeutic application with multiple mechanisms of action. This review aims to describe the biological significance of coumarinthiazole hybrids with particular emphasis on structure-activity relationship.
