Abstract
สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาขนบในการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์บันเทิงคดีแนววิทยาศาสตร์ (Science Fiction: Sci-fi) ระหว่างช่วงพ.ศ. 2541-2555 และช่วงพ.ศ. 2556-2563 เพื่อค้นหาว่าในยุคหลังการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์บันเทิงคดีแนววิทยาศาสตร์มีขนบการแปลอย่างไร และสาเหตุของการเปลี่ยนแปลงดังกล่าวคืออะไร นอกจากนี้ผู้วิจัยยังต้องการศึกษาว่าประเภทย่อยของภาพยนตร์นั้นจะมีผลต่อขนบในการแปลภาพยนตร์หรือไม่ โดยผู้วิจัยได้คัดเลือกชื่อภาพยนตร์ไซไฟทั้งหมดจำนวน 229 รายชื่อ และได้จำแนกประเภทย่อยของภาพยนตร์ในทั้งสองช่วงเวลาออกเป็น 5 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ ภาพยนตร์ไซไฟ-แอ็คชั่น ภาพยนตร์ไซไฟ-ระทึกขวัญ ภาพยนตร์ไซไฟ-ผจญภัย ภาพยนตร์ไซไฟ-ตลก และภาพยนตร์ไซไฟ-โรแมนติก จากการศึกษาผู้วิจัยพบว่า ในยุคหลังนั้น กลุ่มภาพยนตร์ที่มีแนวโน้มของขนบในการแปลโดยเคลื่อนเข้าหาวัฒนธรรมปลายทาง ได้แก่ กลุ่มภาพยนตร์ไซไฟ-ตลก โดยสะท้อนผ่านการใช้กลวิธีการแปลแบบตั้งชื่อใหม่ และกลุ่มภาพยนตร์ไซไฟ-โรแมนติก โดยสะท้อนผ่านการใช้กลวิธีการแปลความ ทั้งนี้การใช้กลวิธีการแปลความและการตั้งชื่อใหม่อาจทำให้ผู้ชมเข้าใจเนื้อหาสำคัญของภาพยนตร์และอาจทำให้ผู้ชมตัดสินใจรับชมภาพยนตร์ สำหรับกลุ่มภาพยนตร์ที่มีแนวโน้มของขนบในการแปลเเบบประนีประนอมระหว่างการเคลื่อนเข้าหาวัฒนธรรมต้นทางและปลายทาง ได้แก่ กลุ่มภาพยนตร์ไซไฟ-แอ็คชั่น กลุ่มภาพยนตร์ไซไฟ-ระทึกขวัญ และกลุ่มภาพยนตร์ไซไฟ-ผจญภัย โดยสะท้อนผ่านกลวิธีการแปลแบบทับศัพท์โดยการขยายความเพิ่มเติม ซึ่งการทับศัพท์เป็นการรักษาชื่อในภาษาต้นทาง และการขยายความเพิ่มเติมเป็นการสะท้อนเนื้อหาของภาพยนตร์เพื่อให้ผู้ชมเกิดความสนใจที่จะรับชมภาพยนตร์ดังกล่าว
Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)
This independent study aims to analyse norms in the translation of Science Fiction movies' titles from 1998 to 2012 and from 2013 to 2020, in order to determine the changes in translation norms in the latter period, and what cause such changes. It also aims to study whether the cinematic sub-genre have an effect on norms in Sci-fi movies’ titles translation. The researcher has selected a total of 229 Sci-fi movie titles, which are classified into five categories namely; Sci-fi action movies, Sci-fi thriller movies, Sci-fi adventure movies, Sci-fi comedy movies, and Sci-fi-romantic movies. From the study, it is found that in the latter period, movies belonging to the sub-genre of Sci-fi comedy tend to have their titles translated under the target-oriented norm as reflected in the use of the renaming strategy, and Sci-fi romantic, as reflected in the use of direct translation strategy. The use of direct translation and renaming strategies can be said to enable viewer to have an overall picture of the movies so that they can decide to actually watch them. Also, it is found that movies belonging to the sub-genre of Sci-fi thriller, Sci-fi action, and Sci-fi adventure tend to have their titles translated under the compromising norms which mediate between the source and target translation orientation as reflected in the use of transliteration accompanied by additional text. The transliteration strategy keeps the original title in the source language whereas the additional text summarises the contents of the movies so that viewer can decide whether to watch them.
