Abstract
สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางการแปลตัวบทในพิพิธภัณฑ์ และแปลตัวบทต้นฉบับบางส่วนในพิพิธภัณฑ์เพื่อการศึกษาวัดหนังราชวรวิหาร โดยผู้วิจัยเลือกแปลป้ายพิพิธภัณฑ์บรรยายวัตถุที่นำมาจัดแสดงของพิพิธภัณฑ์เพื่อการศึกษาวัดหนังราชวรวิหาร รวมทั้งหมด ๑๙๗ ป้าย คือป้ายพิพิธภัณฑ์บริเวณชั้น ๑ ของนิทรรศการจัดแสดงเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับวิถีชีวิตชาวสวนของชุมชนวัดหนังในอดีต และป้ายพิพิธภัณฑ์บริเวณชั้น ๒ ของนิทรรศการซึ่งจัดแสดงเรื่องยาแผนโบราณของวัดหนัง ผลการศึกษา พบว่าการแปลป้ายแสดงคำบรรยายวัตถุที่จัดแสดงในพิพิธภัณฑ์ นอกจากจะต้องพิจารณาเลือกใช้คำศัพท์ที่เหมาะสมกับกลุ่มผู้อ่านในวัฒนธรรมปลายทางแล้ว ยังต้องพิจารณาวัตถุที่นำมา จัดแสดงประกอบด้วย เนื่องจากวัตถุที่นำมาจัดแสดงบางชิ้นแม้จะมีชื่อเรียกเหมือนกับคำในวัฒนธรรมปลายทาง แต่ลักษณะเฉพาะของวัตถุชิ้นนั้นไม่เหมือนกับวัตถุในวัฒนธรรมปลายทาง และวัตถุที่นำมา จัดแสดงบางชิ้นไม่พบในวัฒนธรรมปลายทาง โดยผู้วิจัยพบว่าการใช้แนวทางในการวิเคราะห์ตัวบทต้นฉบับ ของคริสติอาเน นอร์ด ทฤษฎีของปีเตอร์ นิวมาร์ก ทฤษฎีหลากรูปแบบ ทฤษฎีเกี่ยวกับการแปลพิพิธภัณฑ์ (Museum Translation) และความรู้เกี่ยวกับวัฒนธรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการแปลพิพิธภัณฑ์ สามารถนำมาใช้ในการศึกษาตัวบทและวิเคราะห์ปัญหาที่พบในการแปลป้ายของพิพิธภัณฑ์เพื่อวัดหนังฯ นำไปสู่แนวทางการแปลป้ายพิพิธภัณฑ์ซึ่งผู้วิจัยจึงจำเป็นต้องมีการปรับเปลี่ยนคำศัพท์ และโครงสร้างประโยคในภาษาปลายทางที่ใช้ในการแปลใหม่ เพื่อให้สอดคล้องกับวัตถุที่นำมาจัดแสดง และจะสามารถทำให้ผู้อ่านได้รับความเข้าใจที่ถูกต้องมากที่สุด
Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)
This special research focuses on the translation of museum text and translate some source texts exhibited in Wat Nang Ratchaworawihan. In this study, 198 labels containing the description of the exhibited objects in Wat Nang Ratchaworawihan were translated from Thai to English. The labels found on the first floor present the stories of local farmers' way of life in the past. Those on the second floor explain the use of the traditional medicine. The analysis reveals that the translator not only have to choose the vocabularies that are most suitable for the readers in the target culture, but also have to consider the cultural uniqueness of the objects which do not have an equivalent term in English. In this study, Christiane Nord’s translation theory, multimodality theory and museum translation concepts of Robert Neather, Kate Sturge, Chia-Li Chen and Min-Hsiu Liao are applied to the analysis. Peter Newmark's taxonomy of translation strategies are used to describe the method of translating museum texts.
