Abstract
การศึกษาบทบาทของผู้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุต่อความสัมพันธ์ของคนในครอบครัว: กรณีศึกษากรุงเทพมหานครและปริมณฑล โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์หลักเพื่อ (1) ศึกษาและทำความเข้าใจบทบาทหน้าที่และลักษณะการจ้างงานของผู้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุทั้ง 2 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ ผู้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุเป็นทางการและผู้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุไม่เป็นทางการ รวมถึง (2) วิเคราะห์ถึงบทบาทของผู้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุที่มีต่อความสัมพันธ์ของสมาชิกในครอบครัว การศึกษานี้ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพเป็นหลัก เก็บข้อมูลภาคสนามโดยใช้การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกกับกลุ่มผู้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุจำนวน 180 ราย และครอบครัวผู้สูงอายุ จำนวน 10 ครอบครัว ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ลักษณะการจ้างงานของผู้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุเป็นทางการและไม่เป็นทางการ มีบทบาทและหน้าที่ในการดูแลผู้สูงอายุที่คล้ายคลึงกัน อย่างไรก็ดี ปัจจัยที่ทำให้ผู้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุทั้ง 2 ประเภทมีความแตกต่างกัน คือ 1) ด้านเส้นทางการเข้าสู่อาชีพ 2) ด้านสัญญาจ้าง 3) ด้านมาตรฐานการทำงาน 4) ด้านค่าแรงและสวัสดิการ 5) ด้านระยะเวลาการทำงาน และ 6) ปัญหาและอุปสรรคในการทำงาน นอกจากนี้ ในส่วนของรูปแบบการดูแลผู้สูงอายุ สามารถแบ่งออกเป็น 3 รูปแบบ ดังนี้ 1) การดูแลเฉพาะผู้สูงอายุ 2) การดูแลและทำความสะอาดในพื้นที่ของผู้สูงอายุ และ 3) การดูแล เตรียมอาหารและทำความสะอาดในพื้นที่ของผู้สูงอายุ ซึ่งทั้ง 3 รูปแบบของการดูแลผู้สูงอายุส่งผลต่อความสัมพันธ์ภายในครอบครัวทั้งในระดับดี ระดับปานกลาง และระดับแย่ จากผลการศึกษาข้างต้น นำไปสู่ข้อเสนอแนะเชิงนโยบายดังนี้ (1) ผู้กำหนดนโยบายควรให้ความสำคัญกับอาชีพผู้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุมากยิ่งขึ้นโดยการพัฒนามาตรฐานอาชีพ รวมถึงระบบประเมินและตรวจสอบการทำงาน และ(2) หน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องควรเสริมสร้างบทบาทผู้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุในการการสร้างความสัมพันธ์ภายในครอบครัวผู้สูงอายุ ซึ่งจะส่งผลต่อการยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตของทั้งผู้สูงอายุ สมาชิกในครอบครัวของผู้สูงอายุ

A Study of “The role of elderly care workers in the family relationship: The case study of Bangkok and vicinity”. This study aims at (1) investigating and understanding the roles, functions and characteristics of hiring the formal elderly care workers and informal elderly care workers, and (2) analyzing the role of elderly care workers which effect on the family relationship. By applying the qualitative research method, the fieldwork began with conducting in-depth interviews 180 elderly care workers and 10 elderly families. The study found that, the employment of the formal and informal elderly care workers have the same roles and functions in caring for the elderly. Factors that differentiate the two types of elderly care workers could be divided into 6 factors, which are 1) Career Path 2) Employment agreement 3) Performance standards 4) Wage and welfare 5) Working hours and 6) Obstacles at work. According to the concept of elderly care model, the types of elderly care were classified into 3 groups; 1) Elderly care only, 2) Elderly care and cleaning, and 3) Elderly care, food preparation and cleaning in the elderly’s spaces. In addition, the results showed that the role of elderly care workers effected on the relationships among the family members in 3 levels; good, moderate and poor. Based on the research findings, (1) policy makers should promote the elderly care workers career by developing the performance standard and creating the investigating and evaluating system and (2) all stakeholders should enhancing the role of elderly care worker in improving of the quality of life of the elderly and their family members.
