Abstract
Six trials with 2 regimes of oestrus synchronization using analogue prostaglandin F2alpha (PGF2 alpha) were carried out on buffaloes. Three trials 1,3 and 5 were performed on 59 buffaloes using double doses regime 11 days interval. Whereas the other three (2,4 and 6) were on 78 animals with 12 days interval. The experimental animals belonged to Lumpayaklang Animals Breeding Station, Nakornrajsima and Animals Breeding Promotion Centre, Panomsarakram, Chachaengsao. They were inseminated with 0.25 ml straw deep frozen semen on 72 and 96-100 hafter the second PG treatment. Signs of heat were observed during inseminations, they were ridin herdmate, clear or cloudy or mixed discharge, tone of the uterus was also obvious. Three months after the insemination the animals from the 11 days regime were found non pregnant while in trials 2.4, and 6, conception rates were 33, 25 and 90.91% respectively. These findings indicated the possibility of using PGF, 2 alpha (Estrumate, 80996) for oestrus control in buffaloes using double dose injection 12 days interval and fixed time insemination. However, criteria for inclusion and exclusion of the animals is vital if maximize efficiency is expected.
