Abstract
Luteinizing hormone, testosterone and androstenedione were measured by radioimmunoassay in the blood plasma of twin bulls. Blood samples were collected every 30 minutes between 07.30 h to 20.00 h from two pairs of twin bulls, Montbeliarde breed 6 and 12 months old. They were kept under identical management condition since they were 8 days old. Mean and range of the concentration of the hormones of 6 and 12 month old bulls were respectively; LH 1.28 (0.75 -4.75), 0.62 (0.10 - 1.22) ng/ml. and 0.89 (0.50-1.35), 0.78 (0.10-1.50) ng/ml. testosterone 0.78 (0.10-2.91), 0.80 (0.12 - 2.30) ng/ml. and 1.23 (0.28 - 5.51), 1.30 (0.18 - 4.38) ng/ml androstenedione 187 (77-297), 366 (277-558) pg/ml and 190 (134 - 246), 299 (125 - 473) pg/ml. Peak frequencies of LH as well as testosterone and androstenedione varied between bulls. The two steroids peaks in each bull showed very good correlation.
