    Abstract

    Work on the preparation of the new first-year English reading course continues to progress. The first draft version of the course is at present being piloted with 1200 first-year students from three faculties and the writers are receiving valuable feedback from the staff and students participating in the pilot. On the basis of this feedback work has now begun on rewriting the course in preparation for CULI's first full year of operations, beginning in June 1979.
