Abstract

Purpose: To study development of care competencies and experience of caregivers in caring stroke patientsDesign: Pre-experimental researchMethods: A sample comprised 38 stroke patients' caregivers. The research instruments used in the study included 1) a personal information form and 2) care competencies of caregivers in caring stroke patient questionnaires. Knowledge and skills in caring stroke patients were provided to the caregivers through an intensive training for four days prior to patient discharge. Data of personal information and numbers of caregivers who have ability in caring activities of their patients were analyzed with Descriptive Statistics. The differences between the mean scores of caregivers' competencies in caring stroke patients before and after the training were analyzed by using paired samples t - test. In addition, the interviewed data was analyzed by using content analysis method.Findings: The results revealed that the mean score of caring competencies among caregivers about food preparation for patients who have ability to eat, food preparation for patients who have tube feeding, body cleansing, and caring of excretory system was significantly higher than that before participating in the study. However, the mean score of caring competencies among caregivers about body rehabilitation was significantly lower than that before participating in the study, p<.05. Interviewed result showed knowledge gained from practice with stroke patients increasing caring skills among caregivers.Conclusion: Caregivers should be trained and evaluated the competencies in Caring Stroke Patients before patients were discharged from hospital for care effectively.(วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อศึกษาการพัฒนาความสามารถและประสบการณ์การดูแลผู้ป่วยโรคหลอดเลือดสมองของผู้ดูแลแบบแผนการวิจัย: การวิจัยกึ่งทดลองวิธีดำเนินการวิจัย: กลุ่มตัวอย่าง 38 คน เป็นผู้ดูแลผู้ป่วยโรคหลอดเลือดสมอง เครื่องมือวิจัยประกอบด้วย: 1) แบบสอบถามข้อมูลส่วนบุคคลและ 2) แบบประเมินความสามารถในการดูแล กลุ่มตัวอย่างได้รับการฝึกทักษะการดูแลผู้ป่วยเป็นเวลา 4 วันก่อนผู้ป่วยถูกจำหน่าย วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลส่วนบุคคลและจำนวนผู้ดูแลที่สามารถปฏิบัติกิจกรรมดูแลผู้ป่วยด้วยสถิติเชิงบรรยาย วิเคราะห์ความแตกต่างของคะแนนเฉลี่ยความสามารถในการดูแลผู้ป่วยของผู้ดูแลก่อน-หลังเข้าร่วมวิจัยด้วยสถิติ paired samples t - test ข้อมูลการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ดูแลเกี่ยวกับประสบการณ์การดูแลได้นำมาวิเคราะห์เชิงเนื้อหา ผลการวิจัย: คะแนนเฉลี่ยความสามารถในการดูแลผู้ป่วยของผู้ดูแลด้านการเตรียมอาหารสำหรับผู้ป่วยที่รับประทานเองได้และผู้ป่วยที่รับประทานทางสายให้อาหาร การทำความสะอาดร่างกายและการดูแลการขับถ่ายสูงกว่าก่อนเข้าร่วมวิจัย แต่คะแนนเฉลี่ยการฟื้นฟูร่างกายต่ำกว่าก่อนเข้าร่วมวิจัยอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ p<.05 ผลการสัมภาษณ์พบว่าการฝึกปฏิบัติกับผู้ป่วยจริงช่วยเพิ่มทักษะการดูแลของผู้ดูแลสรุป: ก่อนจำหน่ายผู้ป่วยผู้ดูแลควรได้รับการฝึกปฏิบัติกับผู้ป่วยที่ดูแลและได้รับการประเมินผลการดูแลว่าสามารถปฏิบัติได้ถูกต้องเพื่อให้ผู้ดูแลสามารถดูแลผู้ป่วยได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ)
