Abstract

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา ความต้องการของผู้ใช้ห้องสมุดประชาชนกรุงเทพมหานคร ในด้านทรัพยากรสารนิเทศ ประเภทของบริการ และอาคารสถานที่ ตลอดจนปัญหาในการใช้บริการห้องสมุดประชาชน กรุงเทพมหานคร โดย ศึกษาจากผู้ใช้ห้องสมุดประชาชนที่เป็นกลุ่มตัวอย่างจำนวน 453 คน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ผู้ใช้ส่วนใหญ่เป็นเพศหญิง จำนวนสูงสุดเป็นนักเรียนนักศึกษา ส่วนใหญ่มาใช้ห้องสมุดสัปดาห์ละ 1-2 ครั้ง โดยใช้บริการพื้นฐานและบริการสืบค้นอินเทอร์เน็ตและวัตถุประสงค์ในการใช้ห้องสมุดคือ เพื่อแสวงหาความรู้ เพื่อ ความเพลิดเพลิน และเพื่อติดตามข่าวสาร ในด้านความต้องการของผู้ใช้ พบว่า ผู้ใช้ต้องการทรัพยากรสารนิเทศทั้งประเภทสื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ สื่อโสตทัศน์และสื่ออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ในระดับปานกลาง แต่ต้องการหนังสือสารคดี ความรู้สาขาต่าง ๆ หนังสือสำหรับ เยาวชน หนังสือพิมพ์และนิตยสารในระดับมากต้องการทรัพยากรสารนิเทศเนื้อหาความรู้ทั่วไป ภาษาและประวัติศาสตร์ ภูมิ ศาสตร์ในระดับมาก ต้องการบริการพื้นฐานในระดับมาก และต้องการบริการเฉพาะในระดับปานกลาง บริการที่ต้องการในระดับมากได้แก่ บริการยืมคืนหนังสือ บริการสืบค้นอินเทอร์เน็ตและบริการข่าวสารทันสมัย ในด้านอาคารสถานที่ผู้ใช้ต้องการให้จัดเพิ่มและจัดให้มีสถานที่ต่าง ๆ โดยรวมในระดับมาก โดยต้องการให้จัดเพิ่มสถานที่อ่านหนังสือ มุมหนังสือสำหรับเยาวชน มุมหนังสือสำหรับเด็ก สถานที่รับฝากของ ต้องการให้มีสถานที่จัดแสดงหนังสือใหม่ มุมหนังสือวิชาการและสารคดี และมุมหนังสือบันเทิงคดีในระดับมากและต้องการให้ปรับปรุงสถานที่ในระดับมากทุกด้าน ในด้านปัญหาการใช้ห้องสมุด ผู้ใช้ประสบปัญหาทรัพยากรสารนิเทศมีจำนวนน้อย ประเภทของทรัพยากรสารนิเทศมีน้อย และเนื้อหาของทรัพยากรสารนิเทศไม่ทันสมัย ในระดับปานกลาง ในด้านบริการผู้ใช้ประสบปัญหาบริการพื้นฐานในระดับปานกลาง และประสบปัญหาบริการเฉพาะในระดับน้อย ส่วนในด้านอาคารสถานที่ผู้ใช้ประสบปัญหาในระดับปานกลาง

The purpose of this research was to study user needs for Bangkok Metropolitan Public Library services in terns of information resources, services, library building, and problems in using the libraries. The questionnaires were used to collect data from 453 users. The research results that most of the users are females, and the largest number among them are students. Most of them visit the libraries 1 – 2 times per week, and use fundamental library services and internet services. Their purposes in using the public libraries of most of the users are for acquiring knowledge, for pleasure and for information seeking respectively. The users all types resources; the printed materials, audio visual materials, and electronic media at high level. The contents needed at high level are miscellaneous, languages and history/geography. They need both fundamental and special library services at moderate level, but need some service as circulation, internet searching and current awareness services at high level. The users want the libraries to provide more space for reading area, young adults comer and children comer, as well as to provide spaces for displaying new books, for academic/ non-fiction and fiction comers, and also want the improvement of library building in all aspects at high level. The users encounter problems on the inadequacy, and the outdate in contents of information resources at moderate level. They also have problems on fundamental and special library services at moderate and low level respectively, and on library building at moderate level.
