Abstract

In a wide range of networked societies, going digital is a dynamic social phenomenon that brings risks exposure to unsafe media. This article studied the knowledge of issues related to unsafe media through demographic and social perspectives. It aims to understand the digital lifestyle and ways to mitigate the risk of unsafe media for women in the digital world. This quantitative research-based study collected data from 541 questionnaires completed by female digital denizens, and the data were analyzed using statistical methods.

In the context of unsafe media, the research found that population of women in the digital world can divided into eleven groups by factor analysis: 1) women who are committed to recognizing unsafe media 2) those women who are aware of health problems when approaching unsafe media 3) digital detectives 4) digital ecologists who fight online gambling 5) those women who value the norms that connect the offline and online worlds 6) women who use judgment 7) digital lawyers 8) women who used to gambled 9) those females who avoid cyberbullying 10) women and betting exchange; and 11) those females who value digital etiquette.
