Abstract

Currently, there is no clear direction or guideline for members of the Thai urban middle classes and above how they could live their lives according to the concept of Sufficiency Economy. In order to contribute to the development of such a guideline, this article attempts to establish the relationships between "the philosophy of Sufficiency Economy", "urban community", "middle class" and "Human Security" by analyzing related documents. Four critical issues were identified for further study: inequality, crime, health and environmental problems. The study found that capitalism and consumerism influence the pattern of life of members of the urban middle classes and above. These factors generate problems in terms of Human Security, problems that are inevitably inter-connected. Applying the philosophy of Sufficiency Economy to members of the middle classes and above requires communication on and the nurturing in them of a truer understanding of other people's worth, and the value of natural resources and monetary assets. The concept of "capitalism literacy" is offered to contribute to the redress of social imbalances and the reduction of human insecurity.(ปัจจุบันทิศทางและแนวทางในการผลักดันเศรษฐกิจพอเพียงให้เกิดขึ้นในกลุ่มชนชั้นกลางขึ้นไปในสังคม เมืองเพื่อส่งเสริมการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนและความมั่นคงปลอดภัยทางสังคมที่เท่าเทียมกันอย่างแท้จริง ยังคงจำเป็น ต้องสร้างขึ้นให้ชัดเจน ด้วยเหตุนี้เพื่อเป็นแนวทางที่สู่คำตอบต่อข้อสงสัยดังกล่าว บทความชิ้นนี้จึงพยายามค้นหา ปัญหาที่ "แนวความคิดปรัชญาของเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง" "สังคมเมือง" "ชนชั้นกลาง" และ "ความมั่นคงของมนุษย์" มีอยู่ร่วมกัน อันได้แก่ ก) ความไม่เท่าเทียม ข) อาชญากรรม ค) สุขภาพ และ ง) สิ่งแวดล้อม และเมื่อทบทวน วรรณกรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับประเด็นดังกล่าวพบว่าปัญหาเหล่านี้ล้วนมีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องอย่างลึกซึ้งกับการยึดถือและ ดำเนินชีวิตภายใต้ระบบทุนนิยมบริโภคนิยมแบบเกินพอดี อีกทั้งปัญหาดังกล่าวล้วนเชื่อมโยงกันและกันอย่างหลีก เลี่ยงไม่ได้ ทางออกหนึ่งที่จะสร้างสมดุลให้กับปัญหาด้านความมั่นคงของมนุษย์และส่งเสริมการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนได้ ก็คือการหล่อหลอมปรัชญาของเศรษฐกิจพอเพียงให้อยู่ในชีวิตประจำวันของชนชั้นกลางขึ้นไปที่อาศัยอยู่ในเมือง ควรจัดให้มีการสื่อสารที่มุ่งเน้นการรู้จักเห็นคุณค่าของผู้อื่น คุณค่าของทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ และคุณค่าของเงินอย่าง ถ่องแท้ ภายใต้การใช้ชีวิตอยู่อย่าง "รู้เท่าทันทุนนิยม" )
