At present, it is quite clear that the dental caries caused by the dental plaque is the chemo-microbiological process. Nevertheless, the distribution and determination of dental caries is of interest to public health dentists and social scientists. What group and/or social characteristics of population is related to the dental caries and need? What program of public dental health should be set? So, the purpose of this paper is to review pertinent literatures regarding social factors related to dental caries and need. Finally, the findings that may be useful in the future public dental health program will be summarized.
