Abstract
Archial analysis proposed by Viken Sassouni provides only information for skeletal and dental analyses. The objectives of the research were to propose the method of soft tissue profile analysis based upon the concept of archial analysis, to describe soft tissue profile alteration in Thai children and to scrutinize the difference within and between age groups. The sample comprised of 528 Bangkokian schoolchildren aged 8-18 years with normal occlusion and accep- table profile. The alteration of the soft tissue profile was scrutinized from individual lateral cephalogram by construction of three reference arcs comprising the anterior, middle and posterior arcs with 0 as center. The result indicated that soft tissue thickness measured in relation to the reference arc was constant without sex difference. Whereas the facial height increased with age and had significant sex difference.
