Abstract

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการจัดทำดรรชนีของหนังสือวิชาการที่จัดพิมพ์ โดยสำนักพิมพ์มหาวิทยาลัย วิเคราะห์ลักษณะดรรชนีที่ปรากฏในหนังสือวิชาการ ศึกษาวิธีการจัดทำดรรชนีตลอดจนปัญหาในการทำและสาเหตุของการไม่ทำดรรชนีของผู้เขียนหนังสือวิชาการ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า สำนักพิมพ์มหาวิทยาลัยส่วนใหญ่ไม่มีนโยบายการจัดทำดรรชนีหนังสือวิชาการอย่างเป็นลายลักษณ์อักษร มีเพียงสำนักพิมพ์จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยแห่งเดียวที่กำหนดนโยบายการจัดทำดรรชนีหนังสือวิชาการ จากการสำรวจหนังสือวิชาการที่มีดรรชนีทั้งหมด 110 รายการ พบว่า ส่วนใหญ่เป็นหนังสือในสาขาวิชาวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี (84 รายการ) รองลงมาเป็นหนังสือในสาขาวิชาสังคมศาสตร์ (14 รายการ) และสาขาวิชามนุษยศาสตร์ (12 รายการ) ตามลำดับ ประเภทของดรรชนีที่จัดทำ คือ ดรรชนีรวม ปริมาณหน้าของดรรชนีโดยเฉลี่ย คิดเป็นร้อยละ 3.37 ต่อเล่ม ดรรชนีส่วนใหญ่ไม่มีรายการโยง การจัดเรียงลำดับดรรชนีใช้วิธีเรียงอักษรต่ออักษร การลงรายการศัพท์ดรรชนีใช้ทั้งหัวเรื่องใหญ่และหัวเรื่องรอง การระบุเลขหน้าใช้วิธีเว้นระยะให้เลขหน้าอยู่ในแนวเดียวกัน การวางรูปหน้าแบ่งเป็น 2 คอลัมน์ ดรรชนีหนังสือส่วนใหญ่มีตัวอักษรกำกับกลุ่มพยัญชนะ ส่วนใหญ่ใช้ภาษาไทยอย่างเดียว ปัญหาที่ผู้เขียนส่วนใหญ่ประสบคือ การทำดรรชนีทำให้สิ้นเปลืองเวลาและค่าใช้จ่ายในการจัดเตรียมต้นฉบับมากขึ้นและสาเหตุที่ผู้เขียนส่วนใหญ่ไม่ทำดรรชนี คือ สำนักพิมพ์ไม่ได้ระบุให้ทำดรรชนีหนังสือ

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

The objectives of this research are to study the indexing of the textbooks published by university presses, to examine the characteristics of book indexes, and to identify problems of indexing. The research reveals that most of the university presses except Chulalongkorn University Press do not have written policy about book indexing. Among the 110 textbooks which include back-of-book indexes, the majority of book indexes are found in science and technology textbooks (84 titles) and consecutively in social sciences (14 titles) and humanities (12 titles). Most indexes are dictionary indexes. The ratio of number of index pages to the number of book pages is 3.37%. Most of them have no cross-references and are arranged alphabetically letter-by-letter. Most indexes use headings with subheadings as index entry and divide pages into two columns. The language of most indexes is Thai. The problems of making back-of-book indexes are the cost in time and money. The reason of the authors whose books have no index is the lack of requirement from the publishers.
