Abstract

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีจุดประสงค์ในการศึกษาและเปรียบเทียบประวัติศาสตร์ญี่ปุ่นสมัยโทะกุงะวะกับนวนิยายเรื่อง โชกุน และ กะอิจิน ของเจมส์ คลาเวลล์ เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างนวนิยายกับประวัติศาสตร์ ผลของการศึกษาและเปรียบเทียบนวนิยายทั้งสองเรื่องกับประวัติศาสตร์ญี่ปุ่น พบว่าผู้ประพันธ์ได้ทำการเปลี่ยนแปลงข้อมูลประวัติศาสตร์ให้คลาดเคลื่อนหรือแตกต่างไปจากข้อเท็จจริง อีกทั้งยังมีการแต่งเติมเหตุการณ์และตัวละครที่ไม่ปรากฏมีจริงในประวัติศาสตร์ให้มีบทบาทสำคัญในนวนิยาย นอกจากนี้ ผู้ประพันธ์ยังได้สอดแทรกภาพสังคมและประเพณีวัฒนธรรมของชาวญี่ปุ่นในยุคสมัยนั้น แต่ทั้งนี้การนำเสนอเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับประวัติศาสตร์และวัฒนธรรมญี่ปุ่นในนวนิยายล้วนเป็นสิ่งที่ผู้ประพันธ์ได้ทำการศึกษามากพอสมควร เหตุที่ผู้ประพันธ์ทำการเปลี่ยนแปลงข้อมูลประวัติศาสตร์ก็เพราะว่าได้ยึดหลักการเขียนนวนิยายให้น่าสนใจและน่าตื่นเต้นชวนให้ติดตาม เพื่อสร้างความบันเทิงและความสนุกสนานแก่ผู้อ่านเป็นประการสำคัญ จึงทำให้ไม่คำนึงถึงความถูกต้องทางประวัติศาสตร์เป็นอันดับแรก แต่มุ่งไปที่การเขียนนวนิยายซึ่งผู้ประพันธ์ได้กล่าวไว้ว่านวนิยายไม่ใช่ประวัติศาสตร์ จึงไม่จำเป็นต้องมีความถูกต้องตรงตามประวัติศาสตร์ ดังนั้นผู้ประพันธ์จึงเปลี่ยนแปลงข้อเท็จจริงทางประวัติศาสตร์ และแต่งเติมเรื่องราวไปตามจินตนาการและความคิดของตน

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

This thesis aims to study the relationship between novel and history by comparing Japanese history during the Tokugawa period, with James Clavell’s historical novels, Shogun and Gai-jin. The result of the study shows that the novelist makes the historical happenings in his fictions different from the fact. As well, he invents the events and characters, and adds the stories of Japanese society and culture. However, he studied Japanese history and culture before writing these two novels. The reason why he changed the historical details in that he only intended to write interesting and exciting stories to entertain his readers. He ignored the historical accuracy. He said his fictions were not the history so it did not necessarily always relate to what truly happened. As a result, he was able to alter history and made up the stories according to his imagination and ideas.
