Abstract

ในวงวิชาการปรัชญาจีนที่ผ่านมามักจะศึกษามโนทัศน์ความกลมกลืน (เหอ) ในปรัชญาขงจื่อ จากแง่มุมทางจักรวาลวิทยาหรือไม่ก็อธิบายมโนทัศน์ความกลมกลืนราวกับว่ามีแต่มิติของความสงบราบเรียบที่มีแต่ความบรรสานสอดคล้องลงตัวเข้ากันได้ดี วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้แสดงให้เห็นว่ามโนทัศน์ความกลมกลืนของขงจื่อมีความตึงแย้งแฝงอยู่อย่างมีนัยสำคัญ ความตึงแย้งในที่นี้ก็คือ สภาวะที่องค์ประกอบที่แตกต่างหลากหลาย มีความแปร่งแย้งไม่ลงรอยกัน แต่ก็ยังรักษาความสัมพันธ์ที่กลมกลืนเกื้อหนุนกันขององค์ประกอบต่างๆ ไว้ได้ วิทยานิพนธ์นี้ศึกษาความตึงแย้งในกระบวนการสร้างความกลมกลืนในระดับต่างๆ ตั้งแต่ระดับภายในสังคมมนุษย์ไปจนถึงการสร้างความกลมกลืนระหว่างมนุษย์กับสวรรค์ ผลการศึกษาพบว่ามีความตึงแย้งอยู่ในความสัมพันธ์ที่กลมกลืนในทุกระดับความสัมพันธ์การเห็นการมีอยู่ของความตึงแย้งภายในความกลมกลืนช่วยให้เข้าใจมโนทัศน์ความกลมกลืนของขงจื่อได้อย่างรอบด้านมากขึ้นว่า มโนทัศน์ความกลมกลืนมีการปรับตัว มีพลวัต และมีการปรับแต่งองค์ประกอบที่แตกต่างหลากหลายให้อยู่ร่วมกันได้อย่างกลมกลืนอยู่อย่างต่อเนื่อง จึงเห็นได้ว่าความตึงแย้งมีบทบาทอันสำคัญยิ่งต่อมโนทัศน์ความกลมกลืน กล่าวคือ ความตึงแย้งเป็นเงื่อนไขเบื้องต้นที่นำไปสู่การมีความกลมกลืนที่มีมิติของความสงบราบเรียบ กระนั้นก็ตามความกลมกลืนที่มีความสงบราบเรียบก็ไม่ใช่สภาวะอันมั่นคงถาวร แต่เป็นสภาวะที่ดำเนินไปในกระบวนการสร้างความกลมกลืนที่กำลังขยายตัวออกไป การเข้าใจมโนทัศน์ความกลมกลืนที่มีความตึงแย้งนี้ส่งผลไปถึงการเข้าใจจริยศาสตร์ของขงจื่อได้ดีขึ้นว่า จริยศาสตร์ของขงจื่อมีลักษณะปลายเปิด

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

Most studies of Confucius’ concept of harmony (he) have been either a study of the concept from the cosmological perspective or a static conception of harmony conveying a sense of placid tranquility. This thesis argues that tension plays a crucial role in Confucius’ concept of harmony. Tension is the state where various elements are in contention yet they can still maintain a mutually supportive harmonious relationship. By analyzing tension within a process of harmonization that takes place at various levels, ranging from harmony in society to harmony with Heaven, this study shows that tension is inherent in these harmonious relationships. Recognizing the existence of tension within harmony helps develop a more accurate and viable understanding of Confucius’ concept of harmony. Harmony is adaptive, dynamic and constantly accommodating different elements into its process. Tension is a precondition to the “tranquility aspect" of harmony. The tranquility aspect of harmony is not permanent, but always in the process of further harmonization. Understanding the concept of harmony as encompassing tension within brings about a better grasp of the open-ended nature of Confucius’ ethics.
