Requirements Engineering is an essential in Software Development Life Cycle. Analysts get requirements from users or customers. User requirements are analyzed and Software Requirements Specification is produced. The essence of Software Requirements Specification document is a contract among the various parties involved in software development. The major objective of Software RequirementsSpecification must be as complete, consistent and unambiguous statement of requirements as possible. This research is aimed to develop a guideline for preparing Software Requirements Specification document. The contents of proposed Software Requirements Specification are selected based on International standards: IEEE std 830-1993, ESA PSS-05-0, NASA-DID-P200, and DoD-STD-498 for Thai software development practice. This study covers various types of application software among organizations, which consist of private companies, government units, state enterprises, and others. The contents of existing Software Requirements Specification in 142 projects are collected and analyzed with statistical techniques. A template for Software Requirements Specification preparation is proposed in both Thai and English version. Moreover, software tools are provided to convenient support Software Requirements Specification preparation with 3 levels: beginner, intermediate, and expert levels
