Abstract

วิทยานิพนธ์นี้มีวัตถุประสงค์หลักเพื่อศึกษาภาวะโพสต์ฮิวแมนและผลกระทบที่เทคโนโลยีมีต่อร่างกาย สื่อใหม่และการบริโภคในบันเทิงคดีแนววิทยาศาสตร์หลังคริสต์ศักราช 2000 ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ว่าบันเทิงคดีแนววิทยาศาสตร์หลังคริสต์ศักราช 2000 ส่วนหนึ่งใช้การดำเนินเรื่องในช่วงเวลาร่วมสมัยหรือในอนาคตอันใกล้เพื่อนำเสนอภาวะโพสต์ฮิวแมนอันมีที่มาจากการดำเนินชีวิตร่วมกับพัฒนาการทางเทคโนโลยี ภาวะโพสต์ฮิวแมนทำให้มนุษย์มีร่างกายที่หลากหลายควบคู่ทั้งในโลกภายนอกและไซเบอร์สเปซ วิทยาศาสตร์การแพทย์ถูกใช้เยียวยาความผิดปกติทางร่างกายที่สร้างปัญหาต่อเนื่องทางจิตใจ ขีดจำกัดของร่างกายโพสต์ฮิวแมนยังถูกเสนอผ่านความล้มเหลวของการใช้เทคโนโลยีเพื่อชะลอความเสื่อมโทรมของร่างกาย บันเทิงคดีแนววิทยาศาสตร์ยังเสนอสภาพการดำเนินชีวิตร่วมกับนวัตกรรมทางเทคโนโลยีเช่นปัญญาประดิษฐ์ พัฒนาการทางเทคโนโลยีการสื่อสารสร้างภาวะโพสต์ฮิวแมนจากการใช้สื่อใหม่ เครือข่ายการสื่อสารในทุกที่ ทุกเวลาเชื่อมโยงมนุษย์กับชุมชนไร้สาย ความสะดวกในการส่งต่อข้อมูลสร้างชื่อเสียงบนสื่อใหม่และพฤติกรรมเสพติดการสื่อสาร สื่อใหม่ยังเป็นช่องทางการต่อรองกับอำนาจการควบคุมของรัฐและการหาผลประโยชน์ทางธุรกิจ ภาวะโพสต์ฮิวแมนยังอาจเกิดจากการบริโภคอันล้นเกินในระบบเศรษฐกิจที่กระตุ้นให้เกิดการจับจ่ายเพื่อสร้างการเติบโตทางตัวเลขและผลกำไร มูลค่าของสินค้าควบรวมต้นทุนจากวัตถุดิบและค่าใช้จ่ายทางการตลาดเพื่อสร้างคุณค่าที่จับต้องไม่ได้ ความผันผวนทางเศรษฐกิจสร้างลักษณะเฉพาะของพฤติกรรมการบริโภคในแต่ละพื้นที่ ทั้งในเมืองที่เสื่อมโทรมและพื้นที่ชนบทที่ถูกรุกคืบโดยอำนาจทุน บันเทิงคดีแนววิทยาศาสตร์ที่ตีพิมพ์หลังคริสต์ศักราช 2000 เสนอภาวะโพสต์ฮิวแมนเป็นวิวัฒนาการต่อเนื่องของมนุษย์ที่สัมพันธ์กับลักษณะการใช้เทคโนโลยีของปัจเจกและพื้นฐานทางเศรษฐกิจและสังคมของแต่ละพื้นที่

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

The objective of this thesis is to study posthuman conditions and technological impacts on the human body, new media and consumption in science fiction published after the year 2000. The study shows that after the turn of the century, science fiction tends to be set in the contemporary or near-future world to portray posthuman conditions that originate from humans living with technological development. Posthuman conditions expand the limits of the human body from its physical figure to its representations in cyberspace. Medical science may relieve physical illness but may also cause psychological consequences. Such limits are also represented by failure of technology in slowing down body disintegration. Science fiction also depicts conditions of living with artificial intelligence. Development in communication technology induces various posthuman conditions as evidenced by activities on the new media. Ubiquitous communication networks connect humans with virtual communities and facilitate instantaneous information sharing which may help create fame and cause connectivity addiction. Also, new media are being use to negotiate with the State’s power of control and business exploitation. Posthuman conditions may also arise from overconsumption in sophisticated economic systems that stimulate spending for profit and economic growth. Commodity value includes both production and marketing costs to produce virtual value. Economic fluctuation leads to specific consumption behavior related to capital invasion in both urban and rural areas. The study of science fiction after the turn of the century enhances the understanding of posthuman conditions as a human evolution that is related to the utilization of technology in different economic and social backgrounds.
