Abstract

วิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้มุ่งศึกษาเปรียบเทียบคำซ้ำแบบหนึ่งในภาษาไทยและภาษาเขมร เพื่อให้เข้าใจลักษณะรูปคำ เสียงคำ และหน้าที่ของคำซ้ำแบบนั้น วิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้มี 13 บท บทที่ 1 บทนำ ว่าด้วยวัตถุประสงค์และขอบเขตของการวิจัย บทที่ 2 สัญลักขณ์ รวบรวมสัญลักษณ์แบบต่างๆ ที่ใช้ รวมทั้งคำอธิบายสัญลักขณ์นั้นๆ บทที่ 3-10 วิเคราะห์และเปรียบเทียบส่วนต่างๆของคำซ้ำ การวิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบคำซ้ำในภาษาไทยและภาษาเขมรนี้ แบ่งการเปรียบเทียบไปเป็น 2 หัวข้อ คือ ศึกษาเปรียบเทียบรูปคำหัวข้อหนึ่ง เปรียบเทียบหน่วยเสียงที่ประกอบเป็นคำอีกหัวข้อหนึ่ง ในส่วนของรูปคำนั้น ได้แบ่งคำซ้ำออกตามจำนวนพยางค์ของคำ เป็นคำพยางค์เดียวและคำสองพยางค์ และศึกษาส่วนประกอบของคำแต่ละพวกเหล่านี้อย่างละเอียด ในเรื่องการเปรียบเทียบหน่วยเสียงที่ประกอบเป็นคำนั้น หน่วยเสียงที่ปรากฏในคำซ้ำเป็นส่วนต่างๆของพยางค์ เช่น พยัญชนะต้น เป็นสระ เป็นพยัญชนะ เป็นตัวสะกด ฯลฯ ได้นำมาเปรียบเทียบหน่วยที่ซ้ำกันในแต่ละส่วน เพื่อให้เห็นลักษณะที่คล้ายคลึงและแตกต่างกันในการกระจายหน่วยเสียงของภาษาไทยและภาษาเขมร บทที่ 11-12 ศึกษาหน้าที่ของคำซ้ำในทั้งสองภาษา บทที่ 13 บทสรุปและข้อเสนอแนะ ในภาคผนวก มีรายการคำซ้ำซึ่งเป็นข้อมูลทั้งหมดของภาษาไทยและภาษาเขมร พร้อมทั้งความหมายของคำนั้นๆ ในการศึกษานี้ สำหรับภาษาไทย ผู้เขียนรวบรวมข้อมูลส่วนใหญ่จากพจนานุกรมฉบับราชบัณฑิตยสถาน พ.ศ. 2493 และจากภาษาพูดปัจจุบัน ส่วนภาษาเขมร รวบรวมจากพจนานุกรมฉบับพุทธศาสนบัณฑิต พ.ศ. 2512 และจากภาษาพูดปัจจุบันโดยผู้บอกภาษาชาวเขมร ผู้เขียนคาดว่าวิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้ จะให้ความรู้เรื่องลักษณะของคำซ้ำแบบหนึ่งในภาษาไทยและภาษาเขมรอย่างละเอียด ความรู้นี้คงจะใช้เป็นข้อมูลสืบหาที่มาของคำประเภทนี้สืบไป และวิธีการเปรียบเทียบภาษาที่ใช้ในวิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้อาจจะเป็นแนวทางในการเปรียบเทียบคำประเภทอื่นๆที่คล้ายคลึงกันในภาษาอื่นๆ 2 ภาษาได้

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

This thesis is a comparative study of a certain type of reduplicative found in Thai and Cambodian for the understanding of their phonological structure and grammatical features. The thesis is divided into thirteen chapters and an appendix. Chapter 1 describes the purposes and the scope of the work. Chapter 2 discusses the system of phonetic transcriptions used in the presentation of reduplicatives. Chapter 3 through 10 inclusive, deal with the analysis and comparison of reduplicatives. The comparison is carried out in two dimensions; i.e. that of word structures and that of phonological structures. In the former, structures of words are thoroughly studied and compared in terms of the number of the syllables in the words (i.e. monosyllabic words, dissyllabic words). In the latter, Cambodian and Thai reduplicatives are then compared, by part by part, to see the similarities and differences in the distribution of consonantal and vocalic phonemes in the two languages. The grammatical function of Thai and Cambodian reduplicatives is discussed in chapter 11 and 12.Chapter 13 contains the conclusion and suggestion for future work along the line. The data of this study i.e. the Thai and Cambodian reduplicatives, are alphabetically listed I the appendix. The meaning of Cambodian words are also included. Theses data are taken from the Thai Dictionary of The Royal Institute (1950), the Cambodian Diction of The Buddhist Institute (1969), and words given by Cambodian informants. It is expected that this thesis will give a full picture of Thai and Cambodian reduplictives. This would contribute to the knowledge of their origin and development. Also, the comparative method employed in this thesis might be of use for the comparison of other types of words in any two or more languages.
