Abstract

การลงรายการชื่อผู้แต่งหรือกำหนดหัวเรื่องชีวประวัติชาวไทยผู้มีบรรดาศักดิ์ ลงในบัตรรายการหนังสือภาษาไทยนั้น บรรณารักษ์ผู้จัดทำบัตรรายการหนังสือมักประสบปัญหาเกี่ยวแก่การตัดสินใจที่จะกำหนดการลงรายการบัตรได้อย่างถูกต้อง จนทำให้เกิดการลงรายการบัตรของห้องสมุดแต่ละแห่งแตกต่างกันไปและไม่เป็นแบบเดียวกัน วิทยานิพนธ์นี้จึงมีความมุ่งหมายห้าประการ ประการแรก คือการนำประวัติความเป็นมาหรือภูมิหลังเกี่ยวแก่บรรดาศักดิ์และนามบรรดาศักดิ์ของขุนนางไทย ซึ่งเคยมีมาแต่โบราณกาล มารวบรวมไว้เท่าที่มีหลักฐานปรากฏอยู่ ทั้งนี้เพื่อให้ได้ข้อมูลของเรื่องราวดังกล่าวนี้ นำมาใช้ประโยชน์ในการพิจารณาการลงรายการชื่อผู้แต่งหรือกำหนดหัวเรื่องดังกล่าวแล้ว ประการที่สอง เพื่อปรับปรุงแก้ไขหลักเกณฑ์ในการลงรายการบัตรผู้แต่งชาวไทยและกำหนดหัวเรื่องชื่อเจ้าของชีวประวัติผู้มีบรรดาศักดิ์ให้เหมาะสม ประการที่สามเพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการจัดทำบัตรรายการให้มีประสิทธิภาพ ประการที่สี่ เพื่อบรรณารักษ์ใช้เป็นคู่มืออ้างอิง และคู่มือในการปฏิบัติงานที่เป็นประโยชน์แก่บรรณารักษ์ผู้ยังใหม่ต่องานด้านนี้ ประการที่ห้า เพื่อรวบรวมเรื่องราวเกี่ยวแก่ประวัติบรรดาศักดิ์ขุนนางไทยซึ่งมีคุณค่าควรแก่การศึกษาอย่างละเอียดและนับว่าเป็นประโยชน์ต่อวิชาอื่นที่เกี่ยวข้องด้วย วิทยานิพนธ์นี้ได้รวบรวมและเรียบเรียงขึ้นด้วยความวิริยะ เพื่อที่จะเสนอประวัติการของบรรดาศักดิ์ขุนนางไทยซึ่งยังมิได้เคยรวบรวมเข้าไว้ในเรื่องเดียวกันให้สมบูรณ์เพียงพอเท่าที่จะสามารถกระทำได้ จึงนับได้ว่าจะอำนวยประโยชน์แก่บรรณารักษ์หรือนักศึกษาที่จะอ่านเรื่องราวดังกล่าวแล้วนั้นสืบเนื่องกันโดยตลอด เพื่อนำไปประกอบการศึกษาวิชาไทยศึกษา เจตน์จำนงโดยแท้จริงนั้น วิทยานิพนธ์นี้ประสงค์ที่จะเสนอแนะสิ่งซึ่งเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการปฏิบัติงาน ในวิชาชีพของบรรณารักษ์ผู้ขาดประสบการณ์ หรือผู้เริ่มปฏิบัติงานผู้ซึ่งจะใช้วิทยานิพนธ์นี้ให้ถูกต้องตามประสงค์ของตน

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

Many catalogers find it inconvenient to enter a Thai book or to assign subject headings under name of its Thai author or biographer who owns title of nobility. The cataloger must determine for each work cataloged as to what form of the heading should be under what part of a name, or what references should be made to lead to the heading chosen. The choice of entry word varies from library to library. This thesis has five-fold purpose; first, to study and bring out problems in technical process to the cataloging rules of Thai nobility for author and subject headings entries; secondly, to develop cataloging rules systematically; thirdly, to search for suitable way to produce catalogs carefully and efficiently; fourthly, to serve as a reference tool for the catalogers, and as a manual to facilitate the training of new assistants, in order that it may be made available; fifth, to indicate generally the history and background of Thai title of nobility, honour and rank which deserve detailed study, and to collect relating subjects in such manner. The research techniques are besed on the documentary research through books, periodicals and other printed materials both in Thai foreign languages, dealing with history of Thai nobility and with special reference to the cataloging rules of Thai books. Research results concluded as follows: This thesis is an effort to compile and describe in minute details every possible information about the Thai nobility which did not appear in the existing texts in this field. It will serve as collateral reading to the librarian of student who are interested in Thai studies. In particular, there is an intention to suggest to the inexperienced librarians with little or no training who study this thesis and follow it through in direct connection with their work. It is expected, therefore, that they will use this thesis in whatever order best suited specifically to Thai books and their requirements.
