Abstract

สารนิพนธ์หัวข้อ ล่ามในศาสนสถาน ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการทำงานและสภาพการทำงานของล่ามในศาสนสถาน อันได้แก่ ในมัสยิด และในคริสตจักร รวมทั้งสำรวจความคิดเห็นของล่ามในการทำล่ามในศาสนสถานของตนและศึกษาความคิดเห็นและความคาดหวังของผู้ใช้ล่ามในศาสนาสถาน โดยดำเนินการวิจัยด้วยวิธีสัมภาษณ์และสังเกตการทำงานของล่ามในคริสตจักร จำนวน 8 คนและล่ามในมัสยิดซึ่งเป็นมุสลิมจำนวน 2 คน รวมการสัมภาษณ์ล่ามในคริสตจักรและมัสยิดทั้งหมด 10 คน นอกจากนี้ยังมีการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ใช้ล่ามซึ่งเป็นผู้ฟังล่ามชาวอเมริกันในคริสตจักรจำนวน 5 คน และผู้ใช้ล่ามมุสลิมในมัสยิดซึ่งเป็นผู้ฟังชาวแอฟริกันจำนวน 1 คนและชาวพม่าจำนวน 2 คน รวมการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ใช้ล่ามในคริสจักรและในมัสยิดทั้งหมดจำนวน 8 คน ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ว่า ล่ามในคริสตจักรมีหน้าที่ล่ามเพียงอย่างเดียวแต่ล่ามในมัสยิดบางท่านมีหน้าที่เป็นล่ามให้ตนเองและเป็นผู้เทศนาด้วยในเวลาเดียวกัน ล่ามในศาสนสถานมีความอิ่มเอิบใจที่ได้เป็นล่ามให้กับศาสนสถานของศาสนาตน แม้ว่าไม่ได้รับค่าตอบแทนในการทำล่าม แต่ล่ามถือว่าเป็นการรับใช้ศาสนา รับใช้สมาชิกในศาสนาสถานของตนและรับใช้พระผู้เป็นเจ้าที่ตนศรัทธา นอกจากนี้ ผลการสัมภาษณ์เกี่ยวกับความคาดหวังของผู้ใช้ล่ามพบว่า ผู้ใช้ล่ามคาดหวังให้ล่ามเข้าใจมโนทัศน์ของศาสนาที่ตนกำลังทำล่ามอยู่ สามารถสื่อสารประเด็นสำคัญเป็นภาษาอังกฤษที่ผู้ใช้ล่ามเข้าใจได้ด้วยการออกเสียงที่ชัดเจน และแปลเร็วทันกับผู้พูดโดยไม่ทิ้งช่วงห่างจนเกินไป

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

This research aims to study and observe interpreters' roles and work conditions in churches and mosques. It also aims to study interpreters' attitudes towards their works as well as audiences' opinions and expectations in the churches and mosques. The research methods include interviews with 10 interpreters consisting of 8 Christian interpreters in the churches and 2 Muslim ones in the mosques as well as 8 audiences consisting of 5 Christian American, 1 Muslim African and 2 Burmese audiences. The results from the interviews indicate that the interpreters in the churches only have the responsibility of interpreting whereas the ones in the mosques also perform as preachers. The study also found that even though the interpreters volunteer for the interpretation, they are pleased to interpret for members of their churches and mosques as it also means serving their own God. The interviews of the audiences show that they expect the interpreters to understand the religious concepts and convey them into good English with clear pronunciation that is understandable to the audiences and with the speed that is quick enough that the interpreters do not get behind a speaker
