Abstract

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษา วิเคราะห์ และค้นหาแนวทางการแปลภาษาย่อยของกลุ่มรักร่วมเพศในวรรณกรรมเยาวชนเรื่อง วิล เกรย์สัน, วิล เกรย์สัน จากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาไทย เพื่อให้เข้าใจวัตถุประสงค์และรูปแบบการใช้ภาษาที่ปรากฏในตัวบทต้นฉบับ และหาแนวทางการแปลที่เหมาะสมซึ่งจะช่วยในการสร้างบทแปลที่มีอรรถรสเทียบเคียงกับต้นฉบับ แนวคิดและทฤษฎีที่นำมาใช้ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ประกอบด้วย แนวคิดเรื่องวรรณกรรมเยาวชนของแคเรน โคทส์ การศึกษาภาษาศาสตร์สังคม ภาษาศาสตร์และการสร้างบุคลิกลักษณะของตัวละคร แนวคิดเรื่องลักษณะภาษาของกลุ่มรักร่วมเพศทั้งในบริบทวัฒนธรรมต้นทางและวัฒนธรรมปลายทาง แนวคิดการใช้ภาษาเฉพาะกลุ่มของกลุ่มรักร่วมเพศในบริบทวัฒนธรรมต้นทางโดยแจ็ค บาบัสซิโอ แนวคิดเกี่ยวกับลักษณะการใช้ภาษาเฉพาะกลุ่มรักร่วมเพศในวรรณกรรมไทย ตลอดจนทฤษฎีสโคพอสของไร้ส์และแฟร์เมียร์ และแนวทางการตีความของ ฌอง เดอลิล ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ทฤษฎีและแนวทางข้างต้นจะช่วยให้ผู้แปลเกิดความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับบุคลิกลักษณะของตัวละครกลุ่มรักร่วมเพศได้อย่างถูกต้อง ซึ่งนำไปสู่การกำหนดภาษาสำหรับตัวละครกลุ่มดังกล่าวได้อย่างเหมาะสมและเป็นไปตามจุดมุ่งหมายของผู้เขียน

Other Abstract (Other language abstract of ETD)

The objective of this special research is to study how to translate “gayspeak" in the young adult novel, Will Grayson, Will Grayson, from English to Thai. It aims to analyse the use of gayspeak and its register in the selected text and formulate relevant translation strategies in order to achieve the translation that can reflect the characteristics of gayspeak in the Thai language. The following concepts are applied to this study; Karen Coats’s Young Adult Literature, Sociolinguistics, Sociolinguistic and Fictional Character Creation, Characteristics of Gayspeak are used to analyse source setting and target setting; Jack Babuscio’s Camp and the Gay Sensibility, Linguistic Style of Gay Characters in Thai Novels, Katharina Reiß and Hans J. Vermeer’s Skopos Theory, and Jean Delisle’s Interpretive Approach provides analytical platform for the formulation of translation strategies. The result of the research shows that the theories and studies mentioned above can help translator understand homosexual characters which leads to clearer presentation of characters and more suitable translation.
