Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to study perceptions and opinions about tourism development and on the relationships between social institutions in the tourism system in Amnat Charoen province, Northeast Thailand. The research used in-depth interviews with key informants directly related to tourism in this province, and also focus group discussions among key informants, both directly and indirectly involved in tourism. The results showed that the key informants were receptive to the government's policy of promoting tourism in secondary provinces and wanted to make their province a well-known tourist destination. However, they rather differed their views about the goal and means of tourism development. Besides, the relationships between the social institutions within the tourism system of Amnat Charoen province lacked unison. In other words, tourism development and tourism management largely remained in the hands of the governmental institutions or the public sector. Preliminary recommendations are included. (งานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการรับรู้และความคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับการพัฒนาการ ท่องเที่ยวในจังหวัดอำนาจเจริญ ตลอดจนความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสถาบันทางสังคมภายในระบบการท่องเที่ยวของ จังหวัดอำนาจเจริญ ทั้งนี้งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ได้ใช้เทคนิคการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลกับผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการท่องเที่ยวโดยตรงในจังหวัดอำนาจเจริญ และใช้เทคนิคการสนทนากลุ่มกับทั้งผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการท่องเที่ยวโดยตรงและโดยทางอ้อมในจังหวัดอำนาจเจริญ สำหรับผลการศึกษาพบว่าผู้ให้ข้อมูล สำคัญแต่ละประเภทต่างรับทราบถึงนโยบายการส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวจังหวัดเมืองรองและมีความต้องการที่จะ ทำให้จังหวัดของตนเป็นเมืองท่องเที่ยวที่มีชื่อเสียงแห่งหนึ่ง อย่างไรก็ตามมุมมองเกี่ยวกับเป้าหมายและวิธีการ สำหรับการพัฒนาการท่องเที่ยวยังค่อนข้างมีลักษณะแตกต่างกัน นอกจากนี้ลักษณะความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสถาบัน ทางสังคมภายในระบบการท่องเที่ยวของจังหวัดอำนาจเจริญยังค่อนข้างขาดการสอดประสานกันอย่างเป็นเอกภาพ หรือกล่าวอีกนัยได้ว่าบทบาทในการพัฒนาการท่องเที่ยวและการบริหารจัดการด้านการท่องเที่ยวโดยส่วนใหญ่ยัง ค่อนข้างจำกัดอยู่ในสถาบันด้านการปกครองหรือภาครัฐ )
