Abstract

Objective To study the trends of curriculum and educational management for the Doctor of Dental Surgery Program, Chulalongkorn University during the years 2002-2021. Materials and methods A descriptive research using the method of Ethnographic Delphi Futures Research. The twenty-six experts were interviewed. The data collected from the interviews were used for constructing the Delphi questionnaire. Then, the twenty-five experts were asked to comment on the questionnaire. The statistical analysis was conducted by using SPSS program in analyzing the percentage, mean, mode, the difference between mode and mean and the interquartile range. Results The experts forecasted that the curriculum should respond to support the National Health Reform and produce dental graduates who have the acceptable knowledge and skills. The graduates should have critical thinking skills, communicative skills and technical skills that being accountable for the society. The courses would be taught on multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary basis. The learners should have the working experiences with other health care providers. The varieties of assessment would be used according to learning objectives. The student self-assessment would play the role in student improvement. The participatory educational management would be the key component in administration based on good governance and self-sufficient economy. The contribution of faculty members and the leadership of the dean should play major roles of the success of the program. However, there would be some constraints in inculcating ethical values among the graduated in the future. Conclusion To achieve the University's motto "Knowledge and Morality", the university must operate the future program in accordance with the principal of sustainable development. Furthermore, the Faculty of Dentistry must base its philosophy on "Holistic Health Approach" to enhance physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being.
