Abstract

Giant cell fibroma is a benign fibrous tissue tumor. In this article, a rare case of giant cell fibroma involving gingiva in a five - year - old female patient is reported. She came to Dental Department, Ratchaphiphat Hospital with the chief complaint of painless soft tissue mass, size 0.6x0.8x0.3 centimeters, on the interdental papilla between lower left permanent central incisor and lower left permanent lateral incisor. Periapical radiographic picture showed no bone involvement. The lesion was clinically diagnosed as papilloma. It was subsequently treated by surgical excision. The histopathologic examination of the excisional biopsy reported Giant cell fibroma. The clinical investigation, differential diagnosis, final histopathologic diagnosis and treatment with the additional control of local factor are discussed. No recurrence is observed after two year follow - up.
