Abstract

GCF is an inflammatory exudate in the gingival crevice of inflamed gingiva. It contains, in varying amounts, substances derived from products of tissue breakdown, products of microbial plaque, products of host cell, and products of host immunity which are in proportional to periodontal severity. The quantity and components of GCF can be used to predict the severity of periodontal disease which is beneficial for further treatment.(GCF เป็นสารคัดหลั่งจากการอักเสบที่มีอยู่ในร่องเหงือก ประกอบด้วยเซรุ่มและส่วนประกอบต่าง ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการอักเสบ สามารถจัดเก็บเพื่อตรวจหาสารและวัดปริมาณสารได้ สารบางตัวที่มาจากเนื้อเยื่อยึดต่อ ที่ถูกทําลายจากคราบจุลินทรีย์ใต้เหงือก จากเซลล์ของร่างกายที่ปฏิบัติหน้าที่อยู่บริเวณอวัยวะปริทันต์ และจาก ระบบภูมิคุ้มกันของร่างกายนั้นเป็นสัดส่วนกับระดับความรุนแรงของโรคปริทันต์ ดังนั้นการตรวจหาและทราบถึงปริมาณของสารใน GCF สามารถใช้ทํานายโรคและระดับความรุนแรงของโรคได้เพื่อใช้เป็นแนวทางในการ วางแผนการรักษาต่อไป นอกจากนี้ลําพังปริมาณ GCF ก็ใช้แทนดัชนีบอกความรุนแรงของเหงือกอักเสบได้)
