Abstract
Gingival recession and periodontal treatment commonly lead to the exposure of root surfaces and dentinal hypersensitivity which can be described by hydrodynamic theory. These hypersensitive teeth may limit effective plaque control and make them increase in sensitivity. There are many agents recommended for the treatment of this phenomena, but unfortunately there is no ideal agent that fits for every patients. Desensitizing agents can be used in both forms of dentifrice and professional management which include calcium hydroxide, 10% strontium chloride, 33% sodium fluoride, 0.76% sodium monofluorophosphate, 2% sodium cirate in pluronic F-127 gel, 5% potassium nitrate, potassium oxalate and plastic resin or adhesieve bonding agent. However, it is further suggested that the improper plaque control and high acidic dietary habit may disturb the treatment results.(ผู้ป่วยที่มีเหงือกร่น หรือเคยได้รับการรักษาทางปริทันต์ มักเกิดการเผยสิ่งของรากฟัน และตามด้วยภาวะไวต่อการรู้สึกของฟัน ซึ่งอธิบายได้ด้วยทฤษฎีการเคลื่อนไหวของของเหลว ความรู้สึกเสียวฟันที่เกิดขึ้นจะทําให้ผู้ป่วยมีความลําบากในการทําความสะอาดช่องปาก ทําให้เกิดการสะสมของคราบจุลินทรีย์ และเกิดความรู้สึกเสียวฟันได้มากขึ้น ดังนั้น จึงมีการคิดค้นสารเคมีช่วยในการลดหรือรักษาภาวะไวต่อความรู้สึกของฟันขึ้น ซึ่งในปัจจุบันยังไม่มีสารใดที่ดีหรือเหมาะสมที่สุดสําหรับผู้ป่วยทุกราย สารเคมีที่ใช้มีทั้งในรูปแบบของยาสีฟัน ซึ่งผู้ป่วยสามารถใช้ได้เองที่บ้าน หรือในรูปแบบที่ใช้โดยทันตแพทย์ ได้แก่ แคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์ สตรอนเซียม คลอไรด์ 10% โซเดียมฟลูออไรด์ 33% โซเดียมโมโนฟลูออโรฟอสเฟต 0.76% โซเดียมซิเตรท 2% ในฟลูโรนิค เอฟ 127 เจล โปตัสเซียมไนเตรท 5% และ โปตัสเซียม ออกซาเลท หรือการใช้พลาสติกเรซิน หรือสารยึดติด นอกจากนี้ ควรแนะนําผู้ป่วยโดยเน้นถึงการทําความสะอาด และลดการรับประทานอาหารหรือ เครื่องดื่มที่มีกรดสูง เพราะจะทําให้การรักษาภาวะไวต่อความรู้สึกของฟันไม่ได้ผล)
