Abstract

Some of the oral Surgeons might face with the problem of fixation of the jaw particularly in cases of the gun shot resulting in the comminuted fractures. In order to treat this type of patient, the splint has to be in place properly for longer period. Some of the instruments such as Rodger Anderson pins have been imported but the disadvantages can still be noticed. Loosening of the pins within the first three months is not uncommon and the price of each set is considerably high for sufferers. To achieve these problem, the splints have been designed and used in the mentioned cases. The period of fixation can be extended until the bone union is appreciated. Moreover, the cost of the appliance is much lower than the imported one, and the process in doing it is undoubtedly simple.(ศัลยแพทย์ทางช่องปาก มักประสบปัญหาและความยุ่งยากเกี่ยวกับการที่จะหาวิธี ตรึงชิ้นของกระดูกขากรรไกรล่างที่หัก เนื่องจากถูกยิงด้วยกระสุนปืน และกระดูกแตกเป็นชิ้นเล็กชิ้นน้อย การตรึงชิ้นของกระดูกก็จําเป็นจะต้องตรึงไว้นานโดยที่จะต้องไม่ทําให้เฝือกนั้นหลุด เครื่องมือจากต่างประเทศ เช่น Rodger Anderson pins ก็มีราคาสูงลิ่ว และก็ยังไม่สามารถจะตรึงชิ้นกระดูกไว้ได้นาน เกิน 3 เดือน เพราะ pins จะหลวมและหลุด จึงได้คิดประดิษฐ์เฝือกขึ้นมาใช้แทนในต้นทุนที่ราคาถูก อย่างเทียบกันไม่ได้ และผลที่ได้รับกลับทําให้สามารถตรึงชิ้นของกระดูกไว้ได้นานเกินคาด คือ เป็นแรมปี สามารถประดิษฐ์ขึ้นได้ด้วยวิธีง่าย และใช้เวลาไม่นาน)
